East Meets West was publicly dedicated on November 9, 2012, with members of the Avery family in attendance. The bronze sculpture depicts the Avery family in a 1926 Ford, startling the horses pulling an oil field worker’s wagon. The statue was created by the artist Robert Summers and fabricated by the Deep in the Heart Foundry. This artist is well known for intricate detail and authenticity to original modeling.
The final product stands 20 feet by 40 feet, 135 percent actual size, and is located at the Avery Centennial Route 66 Plaza at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Route 66.
