Project Description:

Downtown:

The Black Gold Park Centennial Landmark project was completed in March 2008 with a dedication held in April 2008. This modern replica of an Oklahoma oil derrick helps chronicle the town’s part in the state’s oil boom. This landmark located in the Black Gold Park marks the first of many oil wells drilled in the pool of oil that had been discovered in Oklahoma. The Ida E. Glenn #1 well monument is inscribed, “This began the great growth of the oil industry in the City of Tulsa and the State of Oklahoma.”

Neighborhoods:

The City of Glenpool utilized funds from a Community Revitalization Grant awarded by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, along with matching funds from Vision 2025 Neighborhood funds, for a sidewalk construction, parking lot and street overlay project.

Paving and sidewalk improvements were completed in December 2005. Construction on the Elwood Roadway Improvement project was completed in February 2007 (this project was partially funded by ODOT).

Sidewalk improvements can be found on Broadway Street between 148th & 147th streets, Elm & Fern streets near Glenpool Schools, 145th Street near Black Gold Park, and on 141st Street near City Hall. New paving includes 146th Street, Barber Street, College Avenue and Black Gold Park.
