Armory Hall – Central Service Kitchen and Roof Replacement

Status: COMPLETE

Project Description:

The roof replacement was completed in April 2007.

The Central Service Kitchen, added to the south end, was finished in September 2008.  More than just a building addition, the new kitchen saved an historical building by renewing its purpose. The National Guard Armory was built during the Great Depression by Oklahoma citizens, with Oklahoma materials. It was the training facility for the 45th Infantry, an outstanding division in World War II and later wars, until it was abandoned in the ‘90s. It was so solidly built that there has been no settling, no cracks, even decades later – worthy of saving because of its historical and aesthetic value and sound construction.

The Armory’s south side has been partially renovated with its Central Service Kitchen addition and a meeting room. The 22,000-square-foot kitchen serves the entire fairgrounds campus and its constant stream of events.
