Oklahoma Aquarium Sea Turtles & South Pacific Reef Exhibits
Status: COMPLETE
Allocation: $1,183,337.06

The Oklahoma Aquarium Sea Turtle Island exhibit opened as a colorful home to two 300-lb loggerhead sea turtles in March 2017. The three-level exhibit offers several up-close views above and below water level, including a crawl-in underwater observatory. The 65,000-gallon tank is easy for crowds to view through its clear enclosure and from the shantytown-themed upper deck. While the sea life exhibit is definitely educational, being able to be so close to the giant turtles in their home of vibrant coral and palm trees is fully entertaining.

The first phase of the exhibit, the building shell, was built by funds raised by the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation from private sources. The completion of the exhibit was made possible by joint funding from Vision 2025 and the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation.
Remaining project funds helped renovate the South Pacific Reef exhibit, completed in the fall of 2018.
